Classrooms

Classroom facilities for the Engineering Technology programs are primarily located in the Smith Building, although classes may be held throughout the main campus according to scheduling requirements. In addition to traditional classrooms that accommodate an average of 45-50 students, there are eleven Electronic Presentation Classrooms in the Smith Building. All classrooms, traditional and electronic, are equipped with chalk and/or whiteboards, overhead projectors, projection screens and lecture podiums that contain computers, VHS players, connectivity for additional computers, and document cameras.

In addition to the capabilities detailed above for all classrooms, six classrooms in the Smith Building have been equipped to accommodate the lecture capture system Pan-Opto. Additional equipment in these classrooms consists of a main podium camera, four additional cameras that cover specific areas of the instructional space and sensor pads on the floor that control which of the four cameras is active. Pan-Opto allows delivery of traditional written lecture material on the whiteboard, PowerPoint presentations, presentation or instruction using the document camera, display of local and Internet resources, VHS, CD or DVD presentations, or any combination of these techniques and tools.
