Construction Internship and Career Fair Goes Virtual Due to COVID

Categories: General News

Due to COVID, our annual Construction Internship and Career Fair went virtual this Fall with great success! Our historically on-campus sold-out Construction Internship and Career Fair was forced to pivot to a virtual format in the face of the COVID pandemic.

This year, participating companies had access to over 150 resumes for current students in the ETCM department and were also given the opportunity to recruit students through half hour live virtual presentations, moderated by ETCM faculty, on Monday nights through the Fall semester. Along with their resume, students were given the option to provide 2-minute introductory videos to replace the initial handshake opportunity that occurs at our traditional in-person event. Company participants commented on the high level of student interaction at the virtual presentations and student introductory videos as elements that set the UNC Charlotte Virtual Construction Internship and Career Fair apart from other available recruiting opportunities. Student feedback from the virtual event was also very positive. Companies are currently participating in Spring ’21.
